Where the confusion lies is that hemp seed oil is often referred to as cannabis Sativa seed oil. Many people assume that this means consuming the substance will get you high! Well, no. Hemp oil does contain omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, and is high in antioxidants – but has zero CBD. None, nada. 

In fact, hemp seed oil (cannabis Sativa seed oil) has been in smoothies, health foods, makeup, and skincare for decades. 

So, hemp oil has no CBD, no THC, no CBN – there isn’t a single cannabinoid for you to find.

CBD is big right now, and there is everything from water to $150 creams on the market. CBD is the short term for cannabidiol, and as the name suggests, it is an extract from the cannabis plant. However, it is one of over a hundred active compounds and cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. 

CBD has a lot of properties that our bodies love. It reduces inflammation, alleviates pain, relaxes muscles, helps with joint problems, relieves headaches and migraines, mitigates eczema, and so much more, which is why it is doing big things right now. 

Where does it come from? Good question. CBD is extracted from the flowers, stalks, and leaves of the cannabis plant. There are few methods of extractions, but you will typically find CO2 Extraction, food-safe oil extraction, and liquid solvent extraction. Each technique will give a different quality to the CBD. 

There is a range of consumption methods, like tinctures, water, oils, creams, tea, solids, food, and so much more. Unlike hemp, CBD is likely to have a noticeable effect on your body. 

Ideally, you should have an idea of why you want to try CBD – from improving your sleep, improving acne, or reducing joint and muscle pain. This will be your guide when it comes to the dosage that you take – and how you take it. 

It cannot be stressed enough – you cannot get high from CBD. Almost all CBD has between 0.5 – 0.0% THC (a legal requirement for many CBD products), which is too small of an amount to get you high.
